A discreet and charming wine village
Corcelles-Cormondrèche is, above all, a wine village. The vines stretch right down to the lake, shaped by stone walls, small lanes, wine cellars and family-run estates.
Some plots have been cultivated since the Middle Ages. The region is part of the Neuchâtel AOC, known for its elegant white wines, mainly from Chasselas grapes, and a few distinctive Pinot Noirs.
Several cellars welcome visitors by appointment, especially near Rue des Prés and Clos de la Perrière. In season, open cellar days allow you to meet the winemakers and taste the wines on site.
It’s a wonderful way to discover another face of Neuchâtel’s wine country – one still untouched by mass tourism.
Panoramic views among the finest in the canton
One of the village’s main draws is its breathtaking view of the lake and the Alps. From higher points, you can take in Neuchâtel, the lake, the far shore, and sometimes even the Mont Blanc on a clear day.
Recommended routes include:
The vineyard trail, linking Corcelles to Auvernier or Bôle – ideal for a 1 to 1.5 hour walk through the vines
The path up to Corcelles Chapel, a small historic building offering a 180° panoramic view
Or simply a drive or bike ride along Route de l’Ermitage, especially magical in the golden light of late afternoon
Local history: two villages, one identity
A quick history note: Corcelles and Cormondrèche were once separate villages. They officially merged in 1968, but each part still retains its own character.
Corcelles, higher up, was traditionally agricultural and winegrowing.
Cormondrèche, further down, developed around its crafts and railway station.
Today, the commune balances modern residences, historic vineyards and wooded areas, offering an excellent quality of life – and attracting visitors looking for a calm, authentic experience.
